Local Attractions In Sandown Bay

Hotel in Sandown

With many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, the local area of Sandown can provide with some wonderful ways to relax during your stay.

We are just across the street from the wonderful beach here as well. So there a lot of family fun or a relaxing afternoon on our doorstep. There are also many attractions in and around Sandown Bay that can provide you with a lot of fun.

While you are here why not visit Dinosaur Isle? It is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel. It is Britain's first purpose built dinosaur museum and a major local attraction.

The Island's diverse geology contains many fossils and can gives us a wonderful insight into the past. The museum is a wonderful place to go to learn some very interesting facts about the creatures that lived here long ago. Unlike a certain fictional dinosaur attraction based on an island, there is no chance that the dinosaurs shall escape and run a mock.

Or how about the Isle of Wight Zoo? This is a family run zoo which has a special interest in tigers and lemurs. The zoo itself is built within a Victorian Fort built to guard Sandown's coast and so the setting itself is very beautiful. The zoo faces one of the best beaches on the island and the views are simply breathtaking.

Once upon a time the zoo keepers used to walk tiger cubs on the beach and are still famous with the locals for it. Now they care for older tigers and give them a wonderful place to retire and be happy.

These are only a few of the attractions that the area has to offer. There is still a lot to see and do in the area and we hope that you come down and explore soon!
